Greenwood furniture is made from green (unseasoned) wood by the traditional methods that were used before the industrial revolution.
It is a process that starts with felling or coppicing wood and then shaping or turning the furniture parts while the wood is green. It is an old way of working that has a new relevence today. Shaping wood while it is green can be done using very little machine power and makes use of a sustainable resource all around us. Our country, whose name is often linked with the oak tree that made its ships, nowdays imports most of it's wood while our woodlands are neglected. All our timber come from woods near London or even from the London parks themselves.
Our summer houses are made from antique and reclaimed materials. Panelling from old shops, windows from demolished churches with cedar shingles roofs.

They have a fantasy feeling to them and can be used as playhouses, offices or just somewhere to sit .

We design and build fitted furniture, either painted or in solid wood. Shelving, cabinets, imaginative shelving solutions.
See Fitted Furniture page.
Demonstrations of greenwood working can be arranged for outdoor events and I also teach greenwood skills.
